Animal welfare
Animal experiment studies are essential for estimating the safety and effect of pharmaceutic, etc. They are strictly acquired 3Rs (replacement, reduction and refinement).
They are performed in accordance with Act on Welfare and Management of Animals (Act No. 46; May, 2014), Standards Relating to the Care and Management of Laboratory Animals and Relief of Pain in the Ministry of the Environment (Notice No. 84; September, 2013), Basic policies for the conduct of animal experimentation in the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (Notice No. 0220-1; February, 2015), Basic policies for the conduct of animal experimentation in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (Notice No. 18 Nou-Kai 307; June, 2006), Guidelines for Proper Conduct of Animal Experiments (Science Council of Japan; June, 2006), and the Standards for Care and Use of Laboratory Animals of the DIMS Institute of Medical Science, Inc. (December, 2018).
Their protocols are judged and approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of the DIMS Institute of Medical Science, Inc. based on ethical and scientific perspective.
Animal experiment studies are routinely inspected and the results are reported.
Internal evaluation/judgement for proper conduct of animal experiment is annually executed by Self-Evaluation/Judgement Committee.
